Sipping Sustainably: How Tea Time Café is Reducing its Environmental Footprint

At Tea Time Café, we're all about serving up delicious food and drinks with a side of sustainability. From sourcing our ingredients locally and organically to using eco-friendly cleaning products, we're always looking for ways to reduce our impact on the planet. Here are some of the ways we're doing it:

  1. Keep it local... we work with lots of amazing local suppliers who are handpicked for producing amazing ingredients but also for caring about the environment. By doing this, we support the local community, sustainable agriculture, reduce food miles, and keep things fresh and tasty.

  2. Grow Your Own... At Tea Time Café, we grow fresh salad leaves, edible flowers and fruit and vegetables at our home farm in Topcliffe. Where we use sustainable farming practices to grow the tastiest and healthiest ingredients possible.

  3. Eco Cleaning... Using cleaning products don't have to be harsh and chemical-laden to do the job. That's why we use eco-friendly products from Kristinas, Thirsk which are gentle on the environment and your skin.

  4. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle... We're big believers in the three Rs: reduce, reuse, and recycle. That's why we compost our vegetable trimmings, coffee grinds, and tea leaves to make nutrient-rich soil for our farm. We also offer a discount on takeaway drinks when you bring your own reusable cup, and our disposable cups are cute, compostable, and environmentally friendly. We send our used fryer oil back to our supplier who recycle into biodiesel fuel.

  5. Educate and Inspire... We're on a mission to make sustainability fun and accessible for everyone. That's why we love to chat with our customers about our eco-friendly practices and share tips and tricks for living a more sustainable lifestyle.

We're proud to be doing our part for the planet, one cup of tea at a time. Come and visit us at Tea Time Café to see how we're making sustainability look and taste delicious.
